Champaign’s guitar assault Mustache headlines the bill, withlocal newcomer Cenius opening Saturday night at Mac’s Uptowner in Charleston. The show begins at 9 p.m. Cover is $3, and you must be 21 to enter.
The opening by Cenius presents another opportunity to see multi-band guitar badass Shea Keating, as he’s taking the stage with Seth Asbell, Wyatt Wheeler and Efrem Tutwiler. Keating (Victim to Victor, Keating, Etc, Carlos Danger’s Inbox) will be departing for the Windy City this summer.
The sound is hard to describe, with booming vocals, crashing drums and Asbell’s lyrical wanderings. Here’s a song from their show in January.
Mustache is familiar to Coles County music fans for their three-guitar sonic attack. The band is Isaiah Edwards, Tommy Dunn, Jesse Fustin, Mike Gingerich, and Corey Neidigh.
From their Facebook page:
Pulling from influences like The Black Keys and Queens of the Stone age, they provide an energetic, danceable tight set of original music with a few covers to ice the cake! With our “triple threat guitar line-up” and thundering bass and drums Mustache is a wild ride of rock and groove that must be seen! They are currently writing their upcoming 2nd full length album, which will follow their first album “Trailer Daze.”
Here’s a playlist from their ReverbNation page:
I’d post a video, but searching “mustache” on YouTube is an exercise in futility.
